Murakami World!

If you happen to find yourself in Venice on Wednesday, June 9th, stay put. François Pinault's Palazzo Grassi is organizing "Murakami World" in honor of the artist, and it is going to be three full days devoted to Japanese art in honor of the iconic artist. The program includes workshops that cover everything from manga to sushi, lectures and discussions, a happy hour, and of course, a discussion between Murakami himself and art historian Nubuo Tsuji. This discussion, From Nihonga to Superflat, will center around the fresco pictured above. Murakami created the above, titled 727-272 (The Emergence of God at the Reversal of Fate), for the Mapping the Studio exhibition at the François Pinault collection. Murakami World begins on Wednesday at 10:30 AM and continues until the Murakami/Tsuji discussion Friday afternoon at 4 PM.
