Jury Duty at the Guggenheim

Designed to showcase emerging talent in the growing medium of online video, The Guggenheim Museum has announced an impressive jury for their prolific YouTube Play project. Lead by chairperson Nancy Spector, Guggenheim Chief Curator and Deputy Director, the list includes the likes of artists Marilyn Minter and Takashi Murakami, photographer Ryan McGingley, and the musical group Animal Collective. According to Spector the panel is looking for "work that will test, elevate, and experiment with video as it is manifest online. We are less interested in what's 'now' than in what's next." Submissions are due July 31st and the verdict will be read in September. Court is adjourned.

Make Something School

Rarely do I wish that I could be a teenager again. Make Something School, however, has provided a reason for me to envy the 13-18 year old crowd. Make Something School, a free youth program, has partnered with Nike, Jordan, and Converse to open a five-week long "pop-up" school house in New York City with a schedule that is absolutely bursting with classes taught by artists, designers, musicians, and more! Classes offered include documentary photo with Ari Marcopoulos, puppet-making with Todd James, costume design with Cassette Playa, a mural workshop with Os Gemeos (!!!!), portrait photography with Todd Selby, poster-making with Andrew Jeffrey Wright of Philadelphia's Space 1026, and, naturally, shoe and garment design classes with Nike/Converse/Jordan designers. Classes are filling up quickly of course, but you can email info@makesomethingschool.com to reserve a spot for for your children or—if you're young enough—yourself.

Kaws x Dos Equis

New York artist KAWS has collaborated with beer brand Dos Equis and we love it! The cheerful design cleverly embeds the brand name translation (Two X's), which strengthens our love affair. Unfortunately for us in the US the limited edition bottles will only be found in Mexico. Trip across the border anyone?

Must See: 'A Day Like Any Other'

Still have some steam to let out from your last relationship? Well now you have a chance! Brazilian artist, Rivane Neuenschwander, is running a great exhibit at the New Museum in which the viewers can actually help create art. The artist has hired a forensic artist to sit down with visitors and sketch portraits of their exes as they describe them from memory. We suggest you head on down to the New Museum and make an impression! The show is running through September 19.
