Jeff Koons for BMW Art Car

Now in its 35th year BMW's Art Car program has announced iconic American artist Jeff Koons as the creator of the 17th car in their lineup. BMW North America President Jim O’Donnell celebrates the announcement with Koons, who is ecstatic. “I always thought it would be an honor to work on a BMW Art Car. I look forward to participate in a tradition set forth by such great artists as Calder, Lichtenstein, Stella, and Warhol.” Can't wait to see what he comes up with!

Damien Hirst's "End of an Era" Exhibition

Saturday night at Gagosian the art world headed uptown for the opening of Damien Hirst's "End of an Era". Taking its name from the central sculpture, a severed bull's head with golden horns suspended in formaldehyde and encased in a golden vitrine, the show is on view through March 6th 2010. True to form the opening proved a star-studded affair with icons from all genres, from art to music and film. The after party followed suit at the Boom Boom Room with Hirst's clan: Mick Jagger, Bono, Murakami, John MacEnroe, Terry Richardson to name a few.

Banksy's "Exit Through the Gift Shop”

With his stencil graffiti popping up in both Park City and Salt Lake last night saw the premiere of Exit Through the Gift Shop, graffiti artist Banksy's first film, at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival. The world’s first in-depth look at street art, the movie is described by organizers as “…an amazing ride, a cautionary modern fairy tale...with bolt cutters.” Exciting!! Maira's Magic: Various Illumiations at the ICA

In her first major survey Maira Kalman's Various Illumiations (Of A Crazy World) at The Institute of Contemporary Art in Philadelphia exhibits works spanning thirty years of humor and joy from the New York based author, designer, and illustrator. With mediums ranging from embroidery to an installation of ladders and the artists' personal collections of "many tables of many things" observers are invited to peek into Maira's world. Deitch to head MOCA

Today in Los Angeles The Museum of Contemporary Art has announced that as of June 1st Jeffrey Deitch will take the helm as the newest Director of MOCA. NYC Taxi's Mobile Art

From Alex Katz to Yoko Ono and Shirin Neshat the month of January will see 500 billboard 'cones' atop New York City cabs illuminated with astounding works of art. Cleverly titled 'Art Adds' the public installation is brought to you by Show Media, a Las Vegas company that owns nearly half of the 'cones' in our fair city, and New York non-profit Art Production Fund.
