PAPER's Beautiful People Party 2011

From fine art to Girls on Film, Kim Hastriter, David Hershkovits, Mickey Boardman and the beautiful people of PAPER hosted their 14th annual Beautiful People Party tonight in New York. ARTCO was on hand as guests including Julia Restoin-Roitfeld, Will Cotton, and Moby got down with cover boy Aziz Ansari to the beat of the no-no-Notorious Duran Duran live at Good Units. We're glad we don't live in an Ordinary World, but rather one where the iconic 80's band plays parties!

The Andy Monument

This Wednesday, March 30th at 6pm Rob Pruitt will debut The Andy Monument. Located in Union Square, a short stroll from where the Pop Art pioneer’s legendary Factory once stood, the sculpture will pay tribute to Warhol's artistic spirit and the way it has inspired countless artists and young people to make the pilgrimage to New York City. Sitting atop a classical pediment cast in concrete, the chrome-plated figure will stand 7 feet tall and reflect changes in the surrounding environment.

Martin Gropius Bau x MoMA New York

BERLIN - The Martin Gropius Bau recently opened an exhibition of the Judith Rothschild Foundation collection of Contemporary Drawings in partnership with MoMA New York. The exhibition, entitled Kompass, aims to refer to a compass as a mode of measurement and representation in contemporary drawing. Comprised of works from 250 both emerging and also established artists, curator Christian Rattemeyer arranges the collection to portray a transition between figurative works to careful pairings of minimalist and abstract kunstwerk. One of the most compelling galleries is a room of variations, using mathematics and intimate drawing technique with outstanding examples from Fred Sandback, Hanne Darboven, Blinky Palermo, and Robert Barry. The entire collection also features the work of David Hammons, Cy Twombly, Jasper Johns, Donald Judd, Robert Rauschenberg, and Sherrie Levine beside contemporary artists like Kai Althoff and younger artists like Christian Holstad, Nick Mauss, Seb Patane and Amelie von Wulffen. The comprehensive collection demands thoughtful appreciation. Up through 29 May, visit before the show returns to New York!
