Unrealized Artworks

The process of art making can sometimes be more fruitful than the end result. Example, "Unbuilt Roads", a show on view at e-flux through May 16th. Curated by Hans Ulrich Obrist, the exhibit takes the idea of unrealized architectural projects, so often exhibited, and puts it to art. Of the 107 unfinished projects on view are included works by Sylvie Fleury, Jenny Holzer, Robert Rauschenberg, Sol LeWitt, and Christo (pictured). e-flux is located at 41 Essex Street in downtown Manhattan.

Flora: Chris Cunningham's Latest Artistry

Acclaimed director Chris Cunningham's commercial for Flora, Gucci's new women's fragrance, is sure to make even the Roman goddess of flowers proud! Cunningham's eclectic resume includes commercials for Sony Playstation and music videos for Portishead, Madonna, and Bjork among others.  If the scent is anywhere near as sweet as the magical visuals we're sure it will be a great success!

Jeff Koons & Glenn O'Brien at Strand Books

In "celebration" of two of the latest publications to hit bookstores Jeff Koons made an appearance last night at Strand to discuss his work with Glenn O'Brien. The books, titled Celebration and Versailles, document the artist's 2008 exhibitions at Berlin’s Neue Nationalgalerie and the Palace of Versailles respectively. The event was presented by Strand in collaboration with Hatje Cantz and D.A.P. and followed by an Interview Magazine dinner at Indochine in the artist's honor. Rumor has it due to last night's impressive attendance Koons will be returning today to sign additional copies.

Steven Cohen's Women

In a rare exhibition titled Women that opened Thursday, April 2nd at Sotheby's New York, hedge fund billionaire Steven Cohen and wife Alexandra showcase selected works from their personal collection. Most surprisingly of all - none of the work is for sale. The loan exhibition, up through April 14th, features blockbuster artists including Picasso, Matisse, De Kooning, Cezanne, Van Gogh, Warhol, and Prince. The New York Post claims Stevie may be trying to take Sotheby's private. While still unsure about the benefits of going private we always love public art!
