Without Walls Project: Rediscovering New York One Urban Artwork at a Time

With Manhattan as its playground, the Without Walls Project searches high and low for artwork scattered across the city, from street corners to Central Park. The goal: to analyze how the surroundings of an artwork or installation engage its audience. Powered by SoundCloud the dynamic audio-visual map not only includes images of each artwork, but serves as a scavenger hunt of sorts for anyone inspired to tour the city's public art. Check out the website at http://withoutwallsproject.tumblr.com/!

Christie's Joins with Takashi Murakami to Benefit Victims of Japan's Earthquake

In an effort to support the victims of the March 11, 2011 earthquake in Japan, Christie's is teaming up with Japanese artist Takashi Murakami and Kaikai Kiki to dedicate a special section of a forthcoming New York auction to the cause. Murakami will personally select pieces to be auctioned, and in a truly altruistic fashion, all proceeds from the event will be donated to organizations providing relief to the survivors of the catastrophe. Already deeply engaged in the ongoing effort, the artist hopes to illustrate how art can play a valiant role in a time of crisis.
