The Island: Miami Basel

The invitation read "those who should be there, will be there" and Friday in Miami everyone was on The Island. From Jeffrey Deitch to Cecilia Dean guests were escorted by boat from the chic Mondrian Hotel to Flagler Memorial Island where LAND in collaboration with OHWOW partnered to bring art to life in the sandy island settings. For one day only fair goers escaped the convention center to roam the beaches and uncover site-specific installations by artists including Scott Campbell, Hanna Liden, and Terence Koh. Check out ARTCO's exclusive photos from the art happening!

Children of the Corn

Leave it to Terence Koh and Vito Schnabel (son of Julian Schnabel himself) to open a grand installation in a corn field! Over the weekend art connoisseurs and city socialites took a break from the concrete jungle to take in Koh's latest creations. Children of the Corn features various open-mouthed bunnies on top of totem poles strewn throughout the field. Once guests wound their way through the corn field maze, they dined and wined at the dinner celebrating the exhibition. Guests such as: Liv Tyler, Waris Ahluwalia, and Nachos Figueras were also treated to a rare DJ set from Julian Schnabel himself! Sounds like our kind of party!

Performa09: Terence Koh

In his signature white tux, Terence Koh took center stage at the National Arts Club last night as part of Performa09. Koh's memorable cocktail hour, serving up chocolate covered ants, thousand-year-old duck eggs, mussels, and cold Campbells tomato soup straight from the can, preceded a lecture reminiscent of those you remember from art history class: 45 minutes in a dark room watching slide projections of noteworthy art. Koh's surprise twist, however, was delivering the entire lecture in Gibberish. It's safe to say, none of the students dozed off in this class, the room was filled with laughter throughout the performance! The Bride Wore (And Was) Terence Koh*

Artist Terence Koh was fittingly outfitted in one of his very own designs this past weekend when he wed longtime boyfriend, graphic designer Garrick Gott. The dress, originally worn by Koh's mother, was altered to include dramatic billows of tulle; Gott wore a sleek white tuxedo to match. The unconventional ceremony, during which Koh made his entrance in a majestic white canoe and whispered promises to Gott amidst the branches of a nearby tree, was held at the East Hampton home of art collectors Phil and Shelley Aarons. Same sex marriage is currently not recognized by the state of New York, but to the happy newlyweds and 30 onlookers the vows exchanged were as interminable as Koh's 30-foot train...
